Help! need to get the rotor off

Post by a-younger »

Working on the N600 engine, doing an overhaul and can't get the rotor off. How do you do it? Do I need special tools? Thanx in advance,
Avery

Avery;  Was the castle nut on really tight or just hand tight?   Because...  Here is an interesting story; a Honda 600 owner put the front Hub (Honda calls it a Hub) on like he did on all his Chevy's i.e. Finger tight and back it off a quarter turn to put the cotter pin in.  Needless to say the hub as loose as it was just stripped the splines right off the axel.  Jammed the Hub so tight that it was a total loss along with the axel, knuckle bearings...  everything.   So if it's jammed in there and the splines on the Hub don't seem to line up with the axel, there may be the problem.   If not, then follow the procedure on page 11-23 in the Sedan shop manual.     Bill

I’m thinking that maybe Avery is talking about the flywheel since he’s working on the engine???

Honda does call the fly wheel a Rotor, so in that case it is the tool on Page Ch17-23 of the Sedan Shop manual - with how it's used.  Miles sells them on e-bay.   My bad on the Hub.   Bill
