choke light

Hi all. Yesterday i was driving my n600 when suddenly the choke light started burning. I had driven the car a gew miles when it started burning so the engine was hot.
Any ideas?

Some of the later Civics had a choke lamp, but I do not remember one on the 600.  Moreover, the new cables on my shelf have no provision for any electrical hook up.  There is one way for the cable itself to get hot.  If the ground strap from the chassis to the engine is missing, loose or extremely corroded, the engine will try to ground itself thru the choke or throttle cable.  In this case, the cable housings will melt&.. The choke lamp bulbs in the later cars are very low voltage and should not cause melting of the lamp.  I could be wrong, I will defer to real two cylinder folks.  Check the ground strap.

Hi sorry i didnt mean is burned i meant the light turned on.

Hi after reading the manual it seems i was wrong. It is the charge light. So it won't charge the battery. Any suggetions where to start looking?

I think i found the problem. In the regulator there is a thin piece of metal attached to a tiny spring and at the other end there is what looks like contact points. When i push the thin piece of metal to the other contact point the light goes out and the battery is charging.
Any ideas?

Found the problem. One of the magnetic coils has weakened I think. I adjusted the spring and the plate where the "contact point" is attached but if it gets weaker I have to replace the coil or the whole regulator.  Does any one know if the coil is sold separate and where I can get it?

Regulators are available, but you will not find the individual coil. That was only from the old days with British cars and Lucas. the "Prince of Darkness"!
